In this class we will explore some of the classic teachings from the Buddha such as the 3 marks of existence- working with the truth of impermanence and change, the understanding of not self, and bringing awareness to stress or unsatisfactoriness in service of waking up to living a more meaningful life. We will also engage with the 5 remembrances and some of the principles of Buddhist psychology such as being a “greed”, “aversive”, or “deluded” personality type, and how to understand ourselves and our lives through the lense of the Dharma for greater freedom and genuine happiness in daily life, a deepening of our insight meditation practice, and understanding of the causes of our stress and struggle as well as the conditions for true and lasting well being. There will be time for longer meditations, instruction, Dharma talks, small group work and discussion to deepen learning together in community. Recommended for students with a committed meditation practice.
