In this course we will explore the Buddha's teachings on five qualities that empower our meditation practice: The Five Spiritual Faculties.
These five empowerments -- faith, energy, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom -- are our greatest friends and allies on the path of practice. These qualities are most powerful when they are in balance: traditionally we think of faith balancing wisdom, and energy balancing concentration, with mindfulness providing the inner strength to balance all of these as we stay present and awake in every aspect of our life.
Through meditation, instruction, and group discussion in this class, we will experience for ourselves how each of The Five Faculties can be developed and utilized for the cultivation of inner balance.
This class is appropriate for people with some prior meditation experience such as a Basics of Mindfulness or MBSR class who would like to deepen their practice. Classes will include time for meditation, meditation instruction, teachings and group discussion, and is designed to deepen your practice.
